of wildlife in their natural habitat. Day 1 Atlanta Depart your home town for Atlanta. After introductions and meeting your escort fly across the Atlantic with award winning South African Airways. (F) Day 2 Cape Town Arrive in Cape Town and welcome to South Africa! Transfer to our hotel, situated at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight a special "Welcome to Africa" dinner. COMMODORE HOTEL for 3 nights. (D) Day 3 Table Mountain and Cape of Good Hope Our first stop is the famous Table Mountain, before enjoying a panoramic tour of Cape Town. We then travel to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and rid the monorail to the summit for stupendous view of the "meeting of the two oceans" The Atlantic and the Indian. Lunch is in historic Simons Town and our last stop is Kirstenbosch Nation Botanical Gardens. (B,L) Day 4 Robben Island & Winelands Tour We begin today with a visit to Robben Island, infamous as the site of Nelson Mandela's prison home. Later we travel east of Cape Town to the vineyards that produce some of the world's greatest wine vintages. Enjoy lunch followed by a cellar tour and wine tasting. (B,L) Day 5 Garden Route - Mossel Bay - Wilderness We travel today to Swellendam, passing Riversdale and on to Mossel Bay, a popular holiday resort. We visit the Old Post Office tree before continuing to Wilderness. wilderness resort hotel for 3 nights (B,D) Day 6 Plettenburg Bay Travel to the Tsitsikamma Forest to visit the Big Tree and the garden of Eden, before arriving at the seaside town of Plettenberg Bay where we will lunch. Travelling the scenic route, we return to Wilderness. (B,L) Day 7 Oudtshoorn We leave for Oudtshoorn, known as the "Feather Capital of the World". We tour the fascinating Cango Caves, with their giant stalagmites and stalactites, and visit a local ostrich farm for a guided tour, before returning to Wilderness. (B,L,D) Day 8 Durban Early morning departure to George to connect with our flight to Durban. On arrival, we will be met by our local guide and enjoy a brief city tour before proceeding to our hotel. Time to explore on your own in the afternoon. Overnight at ELANGENI HOLIDAY INN. (B,F,D) Day 9 Shakaland Feel the rhythm of Africa as you experience the excitement and romance of the days of Shaka, the king of the Zulus. We visit an authentic "kraal" where the sight of assegai-welding warriors share their fascinating secret of the sangomas. Tonight we enjoy tribal dancing and dinner. SHAKALAND CULTURAL VILLAGE. (B,D) Day 10 Swaziland We make our way past Mkuze, Golela and the Lavumisia border post to Swaziland. Here we explore the craft market and meet the friendly Swazi people. ROYAL SWAZI HOTEL. (B,D) Day 11 Kruger National Park Departing Swaziland we travel towards the world famous Kruger Gate Lodge, situated just outside of the Kruger National Park. A birdwatchers paradise, Protea Hotel Kruger Gate offers guest opportunities to spot a variety of species on their doorstep. Tonight's dinner is in the Boma (weather permitting). KRUGER GATE LODGE for 2 nights. (B,D) Day 12 Kruger National Park Experience Africa and feel her true spirit as you seek out the full spectrum of The Big Five. We travel in open safari vehicles, led by highly qualified professional field guides. (B,L,D) Day 13 Johannesburg Depart for Johannesburg via the Panorama Route with breathtaking views of the Lowveld at God's Window. Stop at Pilgrims Rest, an open air museum and perfect replica of a 19th century mining town. Passing through Pretoria, we enjoy a short city orientation tour. Tonight's special farewell to South Africa dinner is at the Bacarat Restaurant. SANDTON CROWN PLAZA (B,D). Day 14 Nairobi This morning we transfer to the airport and fly to Nairobi, Kenya. On arrival, we be met by a local representative and transferred to our hotel. NORFOLK HOTEL (B,F,D) Day 15 Aberdares Travelling via the market town of Nyeri en-route to the Aberdare National Park, we stop for lunch Aberdare Country Club and then on to the Ark, a unique game lodge. Three decks and a ground level bunker provide excellent photographic opportunities. THE ARK LODGE (B,L,D) Day 16 Ol Pejeta Ranch In the heart of Ol Pejeta Rhino Reserve is the luxury appointed Sweetwaters Tented Camp. In the afternoon explore the reserve on an escorted nature walk. SWEETWATERS TENTED CAMP for 2 nights. (B,L,D) Day 17 Ol Pejeta Ranch Morning and afternoon game drives, including a memorable visit to the Chimp Sanctuary. From your own verandah or the well positioned "waterhole bar" watch as night visitors such as elephant, giraffe and perhaps rhino approach the floodlit waterhole. (B,L,D) Day 18 Mount Kenya Safari Club Depart for the club well renowned for its magnificent setting at the foot of Mount Kenya, the Club is ideal for nature walks, fishing, golf, horseback riding, or simply relaxing by the heated pool. MOUNT KENYA SAFARI CLUB (B,L,D) Day 19 Masai Mara A short flight across the Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara, Kenya's finest game reserve. Our accommodation is at the Mara Safari Club, the ultimate in tented camp luxury. An afternoon game drive in the reserve awaits. MARA SAFARI CLUB for 2 nights. (B,L,D) Day 20 Masai Mara Morning and afternoon game drives. Set your sights for leopard, cheetah, lionesses with their cubs and the occasional glimpse of the proud black-mane lion. (B,L,D) Day 21 Nairobi to Johannesburg Bidding a fond farewell to the Masai Mara, we fly to Nairobi and connect with our onward flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in we transfer to our hotel. SANDTON CROWN PLAZA (B,F) Day 22 Livingstone - Victoria Falls Transfer to the airport for our mid-morning flight to Livingstone. On arrival, we are met and transferred to our hotel. In the afternoon we enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. ROYAL LIVINGSTONE HOTEL for 2 nights. (B,F,D) Day 23 Victoria Falls Enjoy a guided tour of the Victoria Falls and afterwards we continue to Mukuni Village to see a glimpse of how this tribe has lived for generations. We also learn a little about their traditional customs. (B) Day 24 Nairobi - Home Board our return flight to Johannesburg and connecting transatlantic flight to New York, upon arrival you will connect with your domestic flight home. |
